A national leader in transfusion medicine, Bloodworks has been chosen to serve more than 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska partnering closely with local hospitals to deliver the highest level of patient care. Patients with traumatic injuries, undergoing surgeries or organ transplantation, or receiving treatment for cancer and blood disorders all depend on our services, expertise, laboratories and research. We are local, nonprofit, independent, volunteer-supported and community-based.

We have a wonderful opportunity for a Community Engagement Liaison to join our Marketing and Communications Department at Bloodworks Northwest. The incumbent will collaborate with Marketing and Digital Donor Engagement to ensure all collection goals are met, and ensure consistent and appropriate leveraging of external relationships against overall Bloodworks goals and objectives.

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Position is based in greater greater Seattle, WA area and requires extensive knowledge of the region.
  • Grow Bloodworks brand recognition within the Pacific Northwest.
  • Coordinate with business intelligence, Marketing, Donor Engagement, and Community Engagement colleagues to strategize outreach and secure community partners and locations most likely to yield high-performing blood collection sites.
  • Collaborate with community partners to recruit blood donors by leveraging their internal and external audiences and marketing channels to encourage blood donation, recruit donors and support the community blood supply.
  • Team with Blood Services Leadership, especially Donor Services to ensure collection sites are set up to support annual collections goal; maintain alignment between prospective opportunities and operational planning and capacity; and align with Bloodworks growth objectives.
  • Leverage organization-wide promotions, campaigns and messaging through systematic and regular outreach to community partners.
  • Develop, build and maintain a network of community relationships with organizations such as businesses, community groups, educational organization, faith-based organizations with influence.
  • Serve as primary liaison with donor groups/community partners for scheduling of pop-ups, mobiles and virtual drives.
  • Support donor center participation through community engagement outreach.
  • Develop action plans for corrective actions when goals are not being met.
  • Respond to community, sponsor, donor concerns or complaints.
  • Proactively gather competitive/market intelligence and report key findings.
REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Medical Technology or health care background preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Sales/Marketing and customer relationship management experience required, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Specific job skills include, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to maintain a thorough knowledge of the market, solutions/services Bloodworks NW can provide and of market competitors.
  • Solid overall business/financial acumen.
  • Solid computer skills, including use of standard business software (Word/Excel/etc).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Frequent local travel.
  • Ability to work scheduled evening meetings, holidays and weekends.
  • As this is an essential position with direct responsibility to donors and/or patients, incumbent should be prepared to work extended and/or consecutive shifts and/or possibly at a different location during periods of inclement weather or other emergencies.
  • Telecommuting is a frequent and expected condition of this position (applicants must reside in WA or OR state).
  • Bloodworks is a community supported non-profit organization. As such, from time-to-time incumbent can expect to work with volunteers.
  • This position has indirect exposure to blood borne pathogens.
